LONG CLAWSON DAIRY LAUNCHES CLAXSTONE RANGE
British cheese brand Long Clawstone Dairy unveiled its new Claxtone range at the Food and Drink Expo at NEC Birmingham last month.The dairy hosted its first stand at the UK’s largest food and drink trade exhibition, and exclusively showcased its new collection of Claxstone British cheeses: Blue Stilton, Shropshire Blue, Aged Leicestershire Red and Smooth Blue.
The new range met praise from some of the industry’s cheese and dairy experts with its four flavours made for cheese consumers and connoisseurs alike. (more…)

FUNKIN EXPANDS HOME COCKTAIL RANGE WITH 1 LITRE FORMAT
Cocktail brand Funkin is expanding its off-trade range with the launch of 1 litre cocktail mixer packs, to capitalise on the increasing demand for cocktails and the trend for pitcher serves.Available initially in Sainsbury’s supermarkets at the end of April and located in-store in the mixer aisle, the launch follows the success across the UK retail trade of the individual mixer pouches.
The 1 litre range retails at £3.99 and includes cocktail favourites, such as Funkin Strawberry Woo Woo, Funkin Mojito and Funkin Strawberry Daiquiri. (more…)

HOLLAND’S PIES ROLLS OUT NEW SAUSAGE ROLL
Holland’s Pies is launching a new eight inch sausage roll to its chilled range.The new Sausage Roll will be available in Tesco stores and independent convenience stores across the North West this month.
The pork sausage fill, seasoned with spices and baked in flaky pastry is available in a new larger 217g size adding to the brand’s existing range. (more…)

NEW KIDS ‘LAZY TOWN’ SMOOTHIES LAUNCH INTO UK MARKET
Gerber Juice Company is launching a new range of 100% natural children’s fruit smoothies in a bid to encourage kids to drink healthily.The range, packaged in Tetra Wedge Aseptic cartons, is based on the children’s TV programme, Lazy Town, which promotes healthy living to children.

NEW JUBILEE JAM FROM THURSDAY COTTAGE
In order to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee and her service to the nation over the last sixty years, Thursday Cottage has produced a limited edition Jubilee Strawberry Jam.The product is launching with a patriotic label in order to encourage sale with consumers looking for celebratory products.

KELLOGG’S UNVEILS 1950S PACKAGING TO CELEBRATE JUBILEE
Kellogg’s cereal turning the clock back 50 years to mark the year of the Queen’s Jubilee.The company has unveiled a range of limited edition collectors’ boxes inspired by Kellogg’s drawings dating back to the 1950s, when the Queen ascended to the throne.
The line-up, which will be available from 22 April to 25 June, includes the first ever Coco the monkey design for Coco Pops and the original Snap, Crackle and Pop characters on Rice Krispies. (more…)

BIRDS EYE INCREASES RANGE OF PRICE MARKED PACKS
Following strong demand from convenience retailers, Birds Eye is hoping to boost sales of Frozen foods by extending its price marked pack range.This July, Rice Fusions SKUs will join the current 20-strong line-up.

NEW REPORT SAYS FAIR PLAY IN THE GROCERY SUPPLY CHAIN IS NEEDED
A new report has backed up calls for an effective adjudicator to police the UK Groceries Supply Chain Code of Practice.But it concludes that the international reach of some major retail chains means wider EU measures have to be considered to ensure fair play for farmers and consumers.
Development organisation Traidcraft, the NFU and EU farm organisations Boerenbond and Coldiretti, commissioned the report, by the British Institute for International and Comparative Law (BIICL), to identify how the European Union can take steps to tackle unfair commercial practices in dealings between retailers and suppliers. MUDDY BOOTS BURGERS SECURES LISTINGS IN WAITROSE
Muddy Boots Aberdeen Angus beef burgers will be launching in 55 new Waitrose stores on 2 May 2012, in time for the BBQ season.Husband and wife team, Roland and Miranda Ballard, founded Muddy Boots Real Foods Ltd in 2008.
Viewers of BBC One’s High Street Dreams in 2010 saw the couple pitch their beef burgers to Waitrose buyers and successfully win a contract to launch in 10 stores. (more…)

FERRERO RELEASES NEW KINDER BUENO PRICE MARKED PACKS
Ferrero is hoping to drive sales in the chocolate countlines market, with the introduction of a 50p price marked pack across its Kinder Bueno singles range.Available for nine weeks from 21 May, the activity aims to allow retailers to communicate value to shoppers and capitalise on the brand’s current momentum.

Cravendale, the milk brand, is giving 1litre a makeover this spring, with the launch of a new PET bottle format.The bottles will replace the original cartons for Cravendale 1litre and will be 80mm x 80mm x 255m in size.

SAINSBURY’S WINS FREEFROM FOOD AWARD
Sainsbury’s is celebrating after winning Best Cereal with its FreeFrom Oaty Granola at the acclaimed FreeFrom Food Awards.Now in its fifth year, the 2012 awards, held at the Museum of London, recognise FreeFrom products by retailers and brands, and are judged by chefs, food writers, nutritionists and dietitians.
Sainsbury’s was the only retailer of the big four supermarkets to win at this year’s ceremony and the win in the cereal category follows previous successes at the 2011 awards with Sainsbury’s freefrom iced Christmas cake and Sainsbury’s freefrom Christmas pudding both excelling. (more…)

LEVI ROOTS UNVEILS FIRST EVER TV CAMPAIGN
Aardman, the Bristol based animation studio, has joined forces with Levi Roots to produce his first-ever above the line advertising campaign for Reggae Reggae Sauce.The £2m campaign, created by JWT London, encourages consumers to “put some music in your food” and will premiere during a primetime TV slot on ITV on Thursday 3 May and run until mid August.
The ad, which has been designed to put Reggae Reggae Sauce on consumers’ shopping lists this BBQ season, also launches the new Mild Reggae Reggae Sauce variant, a product specifically designed to appeal to consumers with milder taste preference so as to broaden the brand’s appeal to a wider audience. MORRISONS LOOKS TO ‘SUPERFOODS’ FOR REVAMPED SALAD RANGE
Morrisons is introducing a new selection of salads that include a range of “highly nutritious superfoods”.The retailer is undertaking the first revamp of its in store salad bar in 15 years, with a total of 14 new lines and 20 that have been improved.
