Changing consumer attitudes to sugar

Sugar continues to be under the spotlight after DSM published a report on consumers’ attitudes to sugar – one highpoint from the report is that 47 percent of consumers are more concerned about sugar than three years ago. In the same week, significant sugar tax success was reported across sales in Jamie Oliver’s restaurant chain after implementing a ten pence sugar tax on sweetened beverages. Elsewhere, Hershey is eyeing up Nestlé’s US confectionery business as potential bidders line up and Nestlé reported a slight decline in nine-month sales for 2017.
