Devon based The Shops at Dartington is constantly introducing new food partnerships with high quality Devon producers for sale in their award-winning food shop. The most recent of which is a collaboration with The Proper Marmalade Company to create The Shops at Dartington Gin and Tonic Marmalade in time for British Food Fortnight (23rd September – 8th October 2017).
Commenting on this new launch, Managing Director of The Shops at Dartington, Barbara King says: “Gin is very much the drink of the moment with the nation opting for a gin and tonic as their tipple of choice. We’ve combined our hand-crafted Elmhirst Gin with an artisan British tonic, which is incorporated into the nation’s favourite preserve; a winning combination of flavours.” Barbara continues: “We are committed to stocking as much local produce as possible with nearly 90% British in The Food Shop of which 60% is from Devon and a further 22% is from the broader west country.”
The Proper Marmalade Company has won numerous awards including the Paddington Bear ‘paw’ of approval with World Champion, Gold and Silver Awards at the Original Marmalade Festival in Cumbria and several Great Taste Golds, including the Top 50 Products Awards, whittled down from 9,700 entries.
Therefore, it is a perfect fit for The Shops at Dartington’s own brand portfolio which always offers the highest quality ingredients and end products.
Held in the autumn at the same time as the harvest festival, British Food Fortnightis the biggest annual, national celebration of British food and drink. Since its beginnings in 2002, British Food Fortnight has been promoting the benefits of buying and eating from home produced British larder.
A group of 14 shops and cafes, located in a beautiful rural setting in a range of what were once farm buildings, The Shops at Dartington is owned by the Dartington Hall Trust an independent charitable organisation, trading ethically and sustainably as a social enterprise in order to help support the Trust’s activities in social justice, sustainability and the arts.
