Pip & nut enters new category with launch of almond milks

Pip & Nut launches three brand new almond milks; Almond Drink with Honey and Vanilla, Almond Drink with Coconut and an Unsweetened Almond Drink, all launched at 390 Sainsbury’s stores on 24th June. All new variants will also launch at Ocado.com and Wholefoods in June and 700 Holland & Barrett stores in August.

In a significant move for the company, the new additions see Pip & Nut enter a brand new category. As with the existing range, the new milks are 100% natural and feature only the highest quality ingredients such as blossom honey and Californian almonds.

The range, which can be found in the ambient section of the stores, uses roasted almonds which give the drinks a golden colour. They are naturally sweetened with no refined sugars or stabilisers and have double the almond content of the competitors.

With the growth in almond milks at an astonishing 20% year on year with value sales exceeding £68m*, it’s a perfect time for Pip & Nut to launch its range, which has been designed to step away from the functional offering currently available in order to continue to push the category forwards.

“We intend to do what we have managed to deliver in the spreads fixture to the almond milk aisle; add incremental sales to the category with our playful, lifestyle brand that focuses on delivering flavour over function” says Pippa Murray.

The launch of Almond milks follows a phenomenal start to the year for Pip & Nut which is backed by lead investor Giles Brook, the CEO of Vita Coco EMEA. The brand is on-track to hit a retail sales value in excess of £9m in 2017, an increase of over 100% year on year, as consumers embrace its innovative range of healthier, all-natural products.

The three milks are 1 litre, with an RRP of £2.
