BENECOL EXTENDS FAT FREE YOGURT RANGE
Benecol, the cholesterol-lowering brand, is set to extend its range of fat free yogurts with the addition of Benecol Fat Free Forest Fruits Yogurts to the portfolio.
Benecol foods are the only cholesterol lowering foods to contain the ingredient plant stanols which are proven to lower cholesterol by up to 10% within 3 weeks.
Benecol Fat Free Forest Fruits Yogurts come in a pack of four individual 125g pots; Blueberry, Prune, Blackberry and Raspberry (RRP £2.39 per pack of four) and each pot contains an average of 83 calories.
The new yogurts will be available from Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Ocado, Nisa and Shoprite from September 2012.
Benecol’s first fat free, cholesterol-lowering yogurts were launched earlier this year, Garden Fruits; Strawberry, Peach, Rhubarb and Black Cherry.
The launch of the Forest Fruits variety marks the first extension to the range in response to consumer research and demand.
A Benecol spokesperson said:
“The first extension to the Benecol Fat Free Yogurts range is indicative of the demand for delicious, efficacious, cholesterol-lowering products which are also fat free.
“The new yogurts give consumers more cholesterol lowering choices than ever before and are set to contribute to growth in the healthy yogurt category overall.”
Benecol, marketed by McNeil Nutritionals Ltd., remains the market leader in the cholesterol-lowering foods category, currently 49.3% of market share in the UK.
