NEW STREET SENSATIONS RANGE FROM WAITROSE

Waitrose is launching a range of new lunchtimes small meals inspired by foods from around the world.

Taking inspiration from street foods from Jamaica, Turkey, Vietnam, Morocco, Madeira, Italy and Spain, the new range of Waitrose Good to Go foods is a colourful and exotic selection of what it’s calling ‘much more than just sandwiches.’

Customers can choose from roti, foccacia, pancakes, baguettes, salads, cakes and fresh fruit to quash lunchtime hunger pangs.

Vietnam inspired a bánh mì Baguette, with pulled pork, picked vegetables, coriander and chilli sauce.

Or Morocco inspired Spiced Chicken Parcels, packed with spiced chicken, vegetables and tangy onions.

On a hot British summer day, the Waitrose Coconut Water with Pineapple and Passion fruit is an alternative to juice.

While a range of fresh fruit and treat-sized cakes, like the moist and moreish Portuguese Cake, also join the new range.

Waitrose Paneer & Aloo Tikka Roti, Waitrose 3 Spiced Chicken Parcels

Bánh mì baguette (Vietnam) £3
This sandwich,known as Bánh mì, is a light baguette, filled with pulled pork, pickled vegetables, fresh coriander with a few drops of spicy chilli sauce and mayonnaise.

Bánh mì is the epitome of street foods, usually sold from stalls across Vietnam and the sandwich is so popular around the world, its name has been added to the Oxford English dictionary.

Paneer and Aloo Tikka Roti (India) £2.60
India is famous for its street food and this roti is designed to appeal as a lunch for people on the go.

Chunks of paneer are combined with a tikka sauce and studded with potatoes and spiced peppers.

Contrasted by cucumber, sweet tomatoes and coriander, the end result is a vegetarian sandwich.

Tauok Chicken Salad (Turkey) £2.60
A Shish Taouk is a traditional Turkish kebab.

A mixed herb bread is packed with chicken marinated with yogurt, garlic, all spice, cloves and cardamom, with sweet vine tomatoes, lettuce and cucumber and finished with a spiced mayonnaise.

Chorizo Frittata Egg Pancake (Spain) £3
This Spanish-inspired egg pancake is rolled around classic Spanish ingredients: chorizo, roasted potatoes, peppers and sofrito sauce.

Spiced Chicken Parcels (Morocco) £1.80
These pastry parcels are stuffed with slowly cooked spiced chicken and mixed with roasted peppers and onions.

Portuguese cake (Madeira) 80p
Bolo de Mel, as they’re known in Portugal, originate from the Madeira Islands and are considered to be one of Madeira’s oldest desserts.

Orange Polenta cake (Tunisia) £1
This cake is popular throughout the Mediterranean as a moist orange sponge containing almonds drizzled with lemon syrup and topped with an orange icing.

Ginger & Lime cake (Middle East) £1
This cake contains stem ginger and is topped with yoghurt and candied lemon peel.
