Aldi is launching a new and exclusive range of 100% British, Aberdeen Angus Beef.
The meat is Red Tractor endorsed and available now.
The range includes a 21 day matured 8 ounce Sirloin Steak (£3.99), a 21 day matured eight ounce Rib Eye Steak (£3.99), a 14 day matured six ounce Fillet Steak (£4.99) and Aberdeen Angus Mince (£3.59, per 500g).
Aberdeen Angus certification is an exclusive mark of quality, meaning the meat comes from Aberdeen Angus sired cattle that are reared in natural extensive conditions, free from the stresses of modern, intensively reared beef systems.
Aldi’s Specially Selected Aberdeen Angus Beef range matches the quality of Aberdeen Angus Beef stocked in Waitrose, and Marks and Spencer’s, yet is up to 30% cheaper.
Ron McHattie, Chief Executive of The Aberdeen Angus Society commented:
“We are delighted to be working with Aldi in the launch of their Certified Aberdeen Angus Beef programme as we believe it is important to make good quality, ethically-reared meat affordable for everyone.
“Aberdeen Angus cattle are fed almost exclusively on grass and conserved natural forage and Aldi’s Certified Aberdeen Angus beef comes from farms that are specially selected to ensure the highest possible welfare conditions are met.
“All of this helps to produce a distinctive and succulent flavour that sets Certified Aberdeen Angus Beef apart from the rest.”
The new range is part of Aldi’s 100% British fresh meat offering, all of which displays the Red Tractor logo and adheres to the world class standards set out by the Assured Food Standard’s independent assessment.
Tony Baines, Managing Director of Corporate Buying at Aldi, commented:
“Our new Specially Selected Aberdeen Angus Certified beef range gives shoppers the very best quality beef at an everyday low price – the fact it is 100% British, Red Tractor approved and endorsed by the Aberdeen Angus Society really shows just how good our meat range is.”
