A NEW TWIST ON HEALTH BRAND LAUNCHED
Positively Good for You, a new food brand has been launched which plans to promote the proven health benefits of the Mediterranean diet through a range of quality foods.
The first products are six, flavoured, single estate, extra virgin olive oils sourced from the Pata Family olive groves in the Calabrian region of Southern Italy.
Made solely from the Ottobratica variety of olives, they have been selected for their high polyphenol antioxidants (typically 334mg/kg) which has been proven to promote a healthy heart.
New EU food legislation which came into force this year specifically points to olive oils with a high polyphenol level as those most beneficial to health – a
characteristic not present in the vast majority of extra virgin olive oils.
Positively Good for You which is a collaboration between GP, author and broadcaster Dr Simon Poole, leading UK food brand innovator Eddie Stableford,
and Mauro Boero who was raised on his fathers Italian olive grove, have adopted strict selection criteria for the brand in that all foods must provide a health or
nutritional benefit and they cannot contain any ingredients which are detrimental to health.

It is also the first UK company to carry the MedMark, the symbol of the Mediterranean Food Alliance from the US based, not for profit organization, Oldways which promotes really healthy products.
It also gives the brand the rights to use the Mediterranean Pyramid, created by Oldways, within its promotional material.
Born out of a real passion for Mediterranean food and a desire to bring the products from the region to the UK, Simon, Eddie & Mauro all have their own
love affair with the Med.
Simon is a full time GP in Cambridge and was Chair of Cambridgeshire Medical Committee for 8 years, and is an active member of the British Medical
Association.
His non-commercial website, www.tasteofthemed.com carries the message of celebrating nutrition with foods from the Mediterranean and his book “Positively Good for You” has been shortlisted for the international Gifford food writing Award.
Eddie spent many of his childhood summer holidays with his Mother’s extended Greek family and loved helping his grandmother create the most amazing recipes
in the tiniest of kitchens from the simplest of ingredients.
With relatives living across Greece, Eddie has a knowledge of Greek produce, food and culture and he regularly puts his fluent Greek to good use when talking to artisan food growers and producers.
Mauro was born in Genoa and started picking olives in his father’s grove since he can ever remember.
A passion for the natural beauty of olive oil and a belief in its health merits is part and parcel of the culture he was born.
Dr Simon Poole said: “Our brand has been born out of a real belief that adopting the Mediterranean diet could dramatically improve the health of the nation.
“The scientific evidence is robust and growing and now, for the first time we have EU regulations that recognize the significant benefit of high-polyphenol olive oils on cardio-vascular heath.”
The brand is targeting established users of extra virgin olive oil and with the initial range of flavoured oils, those who use it in the Mediterranean way, drizzling onto cooked foods and salads.
A high-polyphenol, extra virgin olive oil which is ideal for cooking will join the range in the coming weeks.
