THE HUMMINGBIRD BAKERY LAUNCHES NEW MOBILE BAKERY

July 9th, 2012

The Hummingbird Bakery, known for its freshly baked cupcakes and other American-inspired treats and desserts, has taken to the road in its new mobile bakery.

With a production capacity of 25,000 cupcakes on a single trip, the unit is effectively an additional Hummingbird Bakery branch.

The mobile bakery comes fully equipped with kitchen facilities for on-board baking, ensuring the cupcakes it serves are completely fresh.

It will be attending a number of festivals over the course of the summer.

The Hummingbird Bakery’s mobile bakery is based on a bespoke design.

The 20’x8’ towable unit includes a Convotherm oven for baking cupcakes, a Gaggia espresso machine for serving freshly ground barista coffees and a large serving and cupcake display area.

The unit is towed by 7.5 tonne lorry which has both chilled and ambient storage spaces for the ingredients used to bake cupcakes.

Both the towable unit and the lorry are branded with full Hummingbird Bakery livery and can be identified at festivals due to two 25’ flags that fold out from the unit.

Tarek Malouf, Founder of The Hummingbird Bakery, said:

“We’ve always taken pride in serving cakes that are freshly baked on-site at each of our branches and we wanted to continue this practice when taking The Hummingbird Bakery mobile.

“In rising to this challenge we’ve created what is probably one of the world’s first fully functioning mobile cake bakeries.

“The mobile bakery is already receiving a very warm reception at festivals.

“People seem to really appreciate the novelty of being able to enjoy freshly baked cupcakes and proper coffee while standing in a field.

“It is also proving to be a fantastic way of introducing new audiences to our style of American baking.”

The mobile bakery has already visited Lovebox, The Isle of Wight Festival and Cornbury Music Festival.

It also has a schedule of festival bookings lined up for the remainder of the summer.

Festival goers will be able to catch up with it at any of the following events:

· Latitude Festival – 12th – 15th July (Suffolk)

· Camp Bestival – 26th – 29th July (Dorset)

· Bristol International Balloon Fiesta – 9th – 12th August (Bristol)

· V Festival – 17th – 19th August (Chelmsford)

· Bestival – 6th – 9th September (Isle of Wight)

· Brisfest – 22nd – 23rd September (Bristol)

Further non-festival dates are being planned for the mobile unit including major equestrian and motorsport events.
