United Biscuits has announced the launch of Carr’s Melts Cheese Batons.
The release aims to enable consumers to enjoy the taste of the cracker brand in a moreish bite-size format.
Carr’s Melts Cheese Batons are light and buttery puff pastry snacks topped with cheese, that are designed for dipping and accompanying fresh houmous or salsa.
They are available in 65g packs with an MRRP of £1.65 and come in cases of 6 x 65g packs.
The new addition to the Carr’s range aims to meet the increasing consumer demand for bite-sized savoury biscuits as home sharing and snacking occasions continues to grow.
Sharing formats are up 8% and now worth £90m whilst Carr’s Batons fit into the Sticks, Twists & Twirls sub-sector which is worth £21m growing at 9% YOY, demonstrating that consumers are increasingly purchasing sharing snacks.
Gerry Roads, Savoury Biscuits Brand Director at United Biscuits said:
“Carr’s Cheese Batons are perfect for sharing with friends and deliver a taste and texture that is distinctively Carr’s.
“Over thirty per cent of Carr’s consumers currently purchase Sticks, Twists & Twirls products, a figure that is 50% higher than the consumer take-up for the total savoury biscuit market.
“We’re confident that the new product fits perfectly into the growing consumer trend for home entertainment, so retailers should take advantage of the strong consumer demand for premium savoury sharing biscuits, especially among our loyal Carr’s consumer.”
