HIPP ORGANIC UNVEILS NEW SAVOURY POUCHES WITH OMEGA 3
HiPP Organic, the original organic baby food company, is launching the first ever range of savoury pouches with Omega 3 – crucial for aiding baby’s neurological development during the first two years of their life.
This formulation is a step change for the pouch baby food category, which aims to capitalise on the continued growth of the pouches sector (currently worth £35.5m and growing at 16.9% YoY).
HiPP’s new range of pouches; Potatoes, Carrot & Beef’, ‘Carrots, Cauliflowers & Peas’, ‘Creamy Tomato & Leek Pasta’ and ‘Scrummy Spaghetti Bolognese’, have been created to provide babies with 25% of their Omega-3 requirement from alpha-linolenic acid, found in rapeseed oil.
As Omega 3 is not made naturally in the body, babies get it from their diet.
Whilst breast milk provides babies with a good source of omega 3 at an early age, food sources such as nuts, oily fish and plant oils, which are naturally rich in Omega 3 are not traditionally eaten during weaning.
With an ongoing mission to provide babies with nutritious meal-time solutions, HiPP Organic also believe that the current pouches for 7 month+ babies are not providing the correct texture, at a time when babies should be introduced to lumpy foods.
The range of stage 2 pouches combining organic vegetables and meat has therefore been created with lumps to introduce more challenging textures early on and enable babies to progress through the weaning process.
Karen Smith, group product manager at HiPP Organic, said:
“Whilst the nutritional benefits of organic produce continue to play a major role in the baby food category, health is a key driver for growth as consumers demand the very best quality for their children.
“We are confident that this latest launch will satisfy further consumer demand by extending appeal to those who currently buy into the HiPP Organic pouch range, whilst offering more nutritional health benefits to the category as a whole.”
