NEW MATCHA SUPREME GREEN TEA FROM JING

June 27th, 2012

Tea company JING, have come up with a new matcha tea, the superfood with more than 130 times the levels of anti-oxidants as standard green tea and celebrity fans including Gwyneth Paltrow and Eva Longoria.

Traditionally drunk by Japanese Buddhist monks for more than 900 years, matcha has more recently been favoured by those who claim it is a fat burner which gives a sustained energy lift, improves the appearance of skin, hair and nails and can even help fight cancer.

But according to UK tea expert, Edward Eisler, founder of JING Tea, the quality of the matcha which has been available anywhere outside Japan has so far been poor.

Now, having travelled through Japan to source quality crops and spent months researching how to help western consumers prepare a quality cup,
JING has launched its Matcha Supreme to, in the words of Edward, “set the record straight”.

Edward said:

“I have tasted every matcha on the market and travelled throughout Japan, and the difference in quality is enormous.

“For the past 18 months, I have obsessed about not only sourcing the best tea but also refining the way it is made.

Tea company JING, have come up with a new matcha tea

“What we have come up with will finally set the record straight and ensure that you no longer have to be an expert to enjoy high quality matcha.”

Until now, matcha has been famously labour intensive both to make and serve.

Grown in Uji, Japan, JING’s matcha tea is first picked, withered, rolled and dry roasted; then it takes around an hour to grind just 40 grams of tea powder.

To drink, the matcha powder must then be smoothed to remove any lumps, and carefully whisked with hot water or shaken with cold water to create a thick and frothy tea.

As a result, Edward believes the resulting high grade matcha tea can proudly sit alongside the other luxury teas he supplies to some of the world’s best chefs, restaurants and hotels.

He says: “Our Matcha Supreme Green Tea has a deliciously sweet and deep flavour and vivid, bright green colour typical of matcha produced using the finest leaves.”

Priced at £30 for 30g (makes 15 cups), JING’s Matcha Supreme Green Tea is available exclusively online at www.jingtea.com.
