BOOTS IN TALKS WITH MUSGRAVE FOR OWN-BRAND READY MEAL LAUNCH
Musgrave and retailer Boots have been in talks about supplying its new range of food products.
At the start of May Boots revealed plans to launch a new range of own-label evening meals in September.
Chief executive of health and beauty Alex Gourlay said: “the range will focus on convenience while building on the high street chemist’s reputation for health.”
In 2010 Boots sold Waitrose products as part of a trial but the sales were not as high as expected.
As part of the same a trial to sell Boots products in Waitrose stores was set up but has now ended and there are no plans for this to be extended.
Boots has also been in talks with a number of other grocers recently, according to press reports.
The news comes in the week that parent company Alliance Boots sold a 45% stake to US pharmacy Walgreen.
