NEW BREAKFAST STEW FROM STEWED

April 4th, 2012

A new cooked breakfast at just 325 calories, that is gluten-free, 2 of your 5-a- day and heat-and-eat ready in three minutes is the newest product to hit the market from stewed!

Beans, Bacon and Bangers is the newest member of the stewed! family and will be available through ocado.com from April 2012  with RRP of £3.79.

As with all stewed! variants, it is an original recipe by Leiths-trained chef-founder Alan Rosenthal.

With cowboy supper-under-the-stars top notes and a British breakfast base, it combines real baked haricot beans with smoky bacon lardons, chunks of gluten-free, British pork sausage and mushroom; all steeped in molasses with spices.

Designed to appeal to those increasing numbers of consumers who eat breakfast at their desks and those wanting a quick option at home, the breakfast can be heated over the gas stove or heated in the microwave.

stewed! was founded by 35-year-old entrepreneur and Leiths trained, passionate foodie, Alan Rosenthal.

Aside from a background in buying and marketing for national retailers, Alan has worked for Spanish food specialists Brindisa, at various London restaurants, including The Providores and is a professional Iberico ham carver.

He came up with the idea for stewed! on the Circle Line in 2007.

In 2008, he left his job and set to work in his kitchen – from where all stewed! recipes still originate.

Just one year later, via Alexandra Park farmers’ market in North London, he was outsourcing production.

stewed! products are available in selected Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Whistlestop, Booths and Wholefoods stores and on ocado.com.
