August 23rd, 2011

Kingsland Wines and Spirits has secured a new listing with The Co-operative for its Rising River range of wines from South African partners, Rickety Bridge.

The range, which includes a Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and a Rosé from the 2011 harvest, will be available in Co-operative stores throughout the UK from August with an RSP of £9.99.

Commenting on the new listing, Wine Director, Karen Wilson, said: “We’re delighted to be launching the Rising River brand with The Co-operative.

“South African wines are more widely known and understood than ever before, so it is a great time to be introducing these three exciting wines.”

Kingsland Wines and Spirits announced its new partnership with Franschhoek based Rickety Bridge wine estate earlier this year.

The winemaker at Rickety Bridge is the acclaimed Wynand Grobler who is responsible for producing some of the most innovative wines to be found in South Africa.

Based in Franschhoek since 1797, the Rickety Bridge winery was bought in 2000 by Duncan Spence and following this a considerable amount of investment has taken place.

In 2007 Wynand Grobler, joined as winemaker, having previously worked for Ernie Els and Rust en Vrede.

Since his appointment, Wynand has been instrumental in creating some of South Africa’s more popular wines.

This has recently culminated in Paulina’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 being awarded a Decanter Gold Medal and The Bridge 2008 has been selected as one of the Top 100 SA wines.
