KIT KAT UNVEILS NEW POP CHOC BITESIZE BAGS

July 14th, 2011

Following the launch of Kit Kat Pop Choc sharing bag in March – bitesize Kit Kat will now be available in a 40g impulse bag (RRP 54p).

From 8th August, the treat-sized bag will be launched in a bid to tap into the growing bitesize confectionery market.

Kit Kat Pop Choc is bitesize pieces of Kit Kat wafer coated in milk chocolate.

Containing no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, the new impulse bag hopes to appeal to younger, female consumers and draw them into the bitesize market.

In the last three years, sales of bitesize products have benefitted from a 23% growth, now worth £84m annually.

The launch will be backed with a £2m media investment from 5th September.

It is expected that 80% of the target audience will see the campaign, equating to over 40 million adults.

This latest news from Kit Kat follows a successful year for the brand, with sales up 5% – now worth £204m.

Following its launch in March, the Kit Kat Pop Choc sharing bag has generated over £3m in consumer sales.

Graham Walker, Nestlé UK Trade communications manager, said:

“The impulse bag is a natural move for the brand enabling consumers to enjoy Kit Kat Pop Choc in a convenient impulse pack.

“To ensure shoppers can easily find Kit Kat Pop Choc, it should be sited on the main fixture with other bitesize products, such as AERO Bubbles.

“To maximise sales at launch, retailers should use branded POS and create eye-catching displays in store that shoppers cannot miss.”
