I’S PIES NEW HADDOCK PIE SUPPORTS THE FISH FIGHT

May 13th, 2011

Pie makers, i’sPies are supporting sustainable fishing methods and The Fish Fight with their new product – Line Caught Haddock Mornay Pie.

Line caught Haddock surrounded by a cream based mornay sauce with hand chopped parsley, topped with Maris Piper mashed potato and cheddar cheese encased in handmade pure butter pastry.

The Haddock used is from the East Coast of England, sourced by Ramus of Harrogate.

Half of all fish caught in the North Sea are unnecessarily thrown back overboard dead, and in the case of haddock this is often because the fishermen are ‘over quota’ and are not allowed to land them.

Using the alternative traditional fishing method of hook and line has a minimal environmental impact and has no unwanted by-catch.

Recently TV chefs came together to support the campaign with a series of channel 4 programmes on the importance of sustainable fishing including; Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstal, Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsey and Hestron Blumenthal.

Celebrity supporters include influential names such as Richard Branson and Stephen Fry.
