The Saucy Fish Co. is launching a new Marie Rose Sauce to join the rest of its fish sauce range.

The picnic basket-friendly sachet is the first step in creating a prawn cocktail dish and hopes to appeal to consumers looking for quick and convenient fresh sauce options.

The classic tomato with mayonnaise combination has made Marie Rose Sauce one of the most popular accompaniments of all time and most popular when combined with prawns and lettuce hearts to create a prawn cocktail dish.

Saucy’s packet of Marie Rose sauce has been launched in time for the summer months, hoping to appeal as an accompaniment to lighter meals and al fresco
picnics, barbecues and garden parties.

To inspire consumers to use the sauce in their meals, The Saucy Fish Co. have released a range of recipe ideas, including a new take on the classic prawn cocktail which reads;

Scoop out the stone of an avocado, mix crayfish tails with Marie Rose and replace to create a crayfish cocktail snack, starter or side.

Simon Smith, head of brand at The Saucy Fish Co. said:

“In recent years, we’ve seen an increase in demand for ‘nostalgia foods’ and in light of this culinary revival trend, we’ve launched this timeless sauce in a handy picnic hamper-sized portion, perfect for summer.

“Prawn cocktail is synonymous with the 1970s dinner party, but it shouldn’t be a dish left in the past.

“Recent stats have found that while 90% of Brits love to eat outdoors, a surprising 66% are unsure of what to serve.

“We hope to provide meal inspiration with this perfectly sized sachet of a much-loved sauce, allowing picnic goers to revive a quintessentially British fish dish and enjoy al-fresco with friends.”

The latest addition to Saucy’s 17-strong range serves two people per individual sachet and RRP from £1.00 per pack and can be found in Tesco’s chiller aisles in over 550 stores across the UK and online the new sauce is available now.
