JOE&SEPH’S LAUNCHES NEW GOURMET POPCORN

February 14th, 2011

Joe&Seph’s, a new premium popcorn brand, has just been released into the UK market.

Launched at the Masterchef Live show in November 2010, the new range has so far received a positive response from both consumers and food industry professionals.

The family business was founded by husband and wife team Jackie and Joseph Sopher, both advocates of gourmet popcorn, who spotted a gap in the UK market for high end popcorn following several visits to the United States.

For the creation of Joe&Seph’s popcorn, Joseph developed a blending technique which flavours each mushroom flake of corn layer by layer and ensures consistency in its taste and texture.

A team of five chefs handcraft the product, creating the caramel base using a variety of sugars and butters specific to each blend.

Unlike other popcorn brands, the coating procedure ensures a 99% cover rate and each batch is then sifted three times before bagging, avoiding hard kernels or small broken pieces to guarantee a higher quality product.

Commenting on their recent success, Joseph reported:

“We have been on an incredible journey since launching at the show.

“Not only did we open a shop in Brent Cross shopping centre but our sales this month are matching pre-Christmas levels.

“We now have a base of loyal customers coming back week after week for their favourite popcorn treat. This is a very exciting time for us.“

The current Joe&Seph’s gourmet popcorn is available in a range of six flavours; Smooth caramel, coconut and cinnamon (90g), Smooth caramel, pepper and chilli (90g), Smooth caramel, mirin, soya and sesame (90g), Caramel, Macchiato and Whisky (80g), Smooth caramel and almond (90g), Classic Caramel (100g), all with an RRP of £2.95 per pack.

A new range of sweet and savoury popcorn flavours is currently undergoing taste tests and Joe&Seph’s is set to expand via new stockists in London in spring 2011.
