AMOY LAUNCHES NEW STIR-FRY SAUCE

February 17th, 2011

Amoy, the Chinese food and ingredients producer, is continuing to grow the Oriental category with the launch of a new Amoy Teriyaki and Toasted Sesame Seeds Stir Fry Sauce.

Amoy Stir-Fry Sauces have achieved success in recent years, growing by 56% in value and 83% in unit sales.

The new variant has been introduced to support this growth and enhance Amoy’s current offering by giving shoppers a wider selection of products to try.

On shelf from February, with an RRP of £0.95 the new Amoy Teriyaki Stir Fry Sauce will be available in a 120g printed pouch.

The New Teriyaki Stir Fry Sauce will sit alongside Amoy’s other eight variants: Chow Mein, Peanut Satay, Sweet and Sour, Black Bean, Hoi Sin, Shenzhen Tomato, Thai Sweet Chilli and Pad Thai.

Caroline Grimshaw, senior brand manager for Amoy said:

“What better way for the number #1 Soy Sauce brand in Hong Kong to celebrate Chinese New Year than the launch of another on trend flavour, such as our tasty Teriyaki Stir Fry Sauce.

“We know that Teriyaki is becoming increasingly popular with consumers and we wanted to fulfil this demand and show our commitment to the category by introducing new flavours.

“Amoy Stir Fry Sauces help consumers create authentic great tasting Oriental cuisine at home in just a couple of minutes.

“In the last year alone, Amoy has been attracting 60% more households over the past year[3], so we expect to see continued interest with this new flavour and increased sales for retailers.”

Today, the Ambient Oriental Category is worth £226 million and is in growth at 3.5per cent year-on-year.

The launch of this new sauce aims to keep consumers interested in the brand while continuing to experiment with new flavours.
