WEIGHT WATCHERS LAUNCHES NEW VIENETTA-STYLE DESSERT

January 28th, 2011

Icefresh, the licensee for Weight Watchers Iced Desserts, is kicking off the New Year with a new addition to its range.

Launching this month, Weight Watchers Ice Cream Waves have been designed to rival Wall’s Vienetta.

The new Vanilla and Chocolate Ice Cream Waves are interspersed with crispy, chocolate layers and topped with a chocolate coating.

At a ProPoints value of three, only 111 calories and 4.3g of sat fat per Wave, they hope to appeal as a sweet treat for those watching their weight.

Investment in NPD has allowed Icefresh to become a leader in the low calorie iced dessert sector and recent data produced by Kantar revealed how the low calorie iced desserts sector has seen a positive percentage increase both in expenditure and volume.

Weight Watchers Iced Desserts believes it has led the way with a reported volume increase of 11% and value increase of 4% over the past 12 months.

Phil Webster, Chief Operating Officer at Icefresh, said:

“Weight Watchers benefits from having a great USP and very loyal following, so our proposition is centred around taking mainstream products and offering customers the same levels of indulgence and taste, but with significantly less fat and calories.

“What our customers want are guilt-free treats they can enjoy as part of a healthy lifestyle.”

The new dessert from the Weight Watchers brand will be launched into Asda and Morrisons with an RRP of £1.79.
