Available for the first time in the UK, Duello is a new variant from Finnish company Panda Licorice.

Duello combines two flavours of licorice and chocolate to create a new sweet snack product for the confectionary market.

The chocolate covered licorice is available now from selected Holland & Barrett stores, and all good independent health food outlets.

Lisa Gawthorn of Bravura, UK distributors for Panda Licorice commented:

“This combination is hugely popular in Finland, the home of Panda Licorice, but until now hasn’t been seen in the UK.

“Early indications show that UK consumers love Duello, so we are looking forward to challenging consumer perceptions and offering retailers a really different line in sweets although with the opportunity to sample these fantastic treats in store.”

Panda Licorice offers a large range of flavoured and original licorice products to consumers including: cherry, raspberry,

lemon, mint, licorice creams and licorice comfits.

The company also offers its products in multi packs and as single purchase snacks.

Panda has been producing the fresh licorice since 1927 and boasts 80 years of continued production at the Panda Factory in Finland.

Over the years in response to an ever-growing consumer base, the Panda range has grown from three original products born in health stores (Natural Bar, Multipack and Licorice Cuts) to a range of over ten products.

The Panda flavour is created through the careful cooking of only four simple ingredients – molasses syrup, wheat flour, licorice extract and aniseed oil.

All panda products are free from artificial ingredients, and cooked in a traditional way.

This “no nasties” policy adopted by Panda since the beginning has earned their products the natural, health label that consumers are increasingly interested in purchasing.

Following a gradual roll out, Duello will be supported with targeted advertising and PR campaign focusing on trade and consumer media.
