THE GREAT BROWNIE BAKE OFF SEARCHES FOR THE UK’S BEST BAKER

September 6th, 2010

The Chocolate Consultancy, The Cake Nest and Look Mum No Hands are inviting UK’s home bakers to create their perfect brownie recipe.

In London the first edition of the Great Brownie Bake Off will take place where UK’s home bakers and non-professional cooks will compete for the perfect brownie recipe.

Taking place on Saturday 9 October 2010 at Look Mum No Hands, the new cycle café on Old Street, the event will be a celebration of the most popular dessert in the UK.

A panel of brownie-experts will decide what makes the perfect brownie and the winner’s recipe will be used by Derbyshire cake company, The Cake Nest, as their exclusive brownie recipe, to be incorporated into their A Piece of Cake range.

The winner will also receive a six-month supply of chocolate donated by Divine Chocolates.

As well as the judging, The Great Brownie Bake Off will also be celebrating all things baking with demonstrations through out the day.

A baking demonstration from Edd Kimber, contestant on BBC2′s The Great British Bake Off and writer of fantastic food blog, www.he-eats.com will take place, as well as an introduction to fine chocolate tasting from The Chocolate Consultancy.

Baking enthusiasts will also have the opportunity to sell their home baked goods on the day, with ten percent of the profits to be donated to cycle charity, Wheels for Wellbeing.

The Great Brownie Bake Off was inspired by an on-going collaboration with Hobbs House Bakery in search of creating the perfect brownie and as a step further in the search for the ultimate recipe for the nation’s favourite indulgent treat, the team has decided to turn to the UK’s home bakers for help.

The judging panel include Abigail Phillips, founder of The Cake Nest, Award-winning Barista James Hoffmann of Square Mile Coffee, Lee McCoy, chocolate expert and Jennifer Earle of Chocolate Ecstasy Tours, Jane Manson, Founder of the Virtuous Bread campaign, Kavita Favelle, Food Blogger, Mathilde Dewilde, Food PR Expert and Blogger.

Home bakers and non-professional cooks have until 2 October 2010 to submit their recipe.

On Saturday the October 9th between 10:00 – 18:00 visitors can pay £1.70 entrance fee to watch the baking take place.
