BEN & JERRY’S ANNOUNCE NEW DESIGN FOR ITS SKINNY FROZEN YOGHURT RANGE

After a hot summer with the Ben & Jerry’s Nuts About Fairtrade Sundae Festival and the launch of their newest fairtrade flavour Fairly Nuts, the ice cream company have also launched some new skinny temptations.

In time for Christmas, Ben & Jerry’s has re-designed its beloved Frozen Yogurt flavour range with a minty green redesign on its packaging.

Cherry Garcia, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Strawberry Cheesecake and Phish Food are all part of the Fro Yo family at Ben & Jerry’s.

The Phish Food and Chocolate Fudge Brownie flavours are also now Fairtrade.

Re-Designed Phish Food Frozen Yoghurt

With consumers becoming increasingly health conscious and ‘staying in’ increasingly replacing ‘going out’, the healthier frozen yoghurt range from Ben & Jerry’s allows consumers to feel less guilty about giving in to their indulgences.

The flavours in the range are the same as the flavours in the ice cream range, only they come with a smaller calorie count.

The re-design of the packaging separates the frozen yoghurt from the ice cream range, which before shared colour themes, making it difficult to tell the two apart.

Back in ’66, in a school gym class, Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield found they hated running but loved food.

Years later in ’78, Ben had been fired from a series of jobs while Jerry had failed for the second time to get into medical school.

So, armed with a $5 correspondence course in ice cream making, they opened their first scoop shop in a dilapidated gas station in Burlington, Vermont.

They soon became popular in the local community for the finest all natural ice cream. Ben had no sense of taste so he relied on what he called ‘mouth feel’, so big chunks of chocolate, fruit and nut became their signature.

In the early days the founders were pretty bad at book-keeping. After two months they closed the store and hung a sign that said ‘we’re closed to figure out whether we’re making any money’.

And they weren’t. But they learned a lot and by 1979, began wholesaling pints of ice cream out of Ben’s VW campervan. The rest, as they say, is history.

All of the frozen yoghurt flavours retail at £3.99 and you consumers can find them in all good food stores as well as Ben & Jerry’s scoop shops.
