NEW BERRY RATTLER FROM HEALEY’S CYDER
Healey’s Cyder continues to broaden the cyder category with the introduction of Berry Rattler.
The latest innovation from Healey’s Cyder will be launching in five hundred milliliter bottles available from multiples throughout Cornwall and the South West.
A light and sparkling 4% ABV cyder, Berry Rattler is made by blending original Cornish Rattler with red berries, creating a fresh drink whilst still retaining the Rattler bite.
Berry Rattler will be also trialling on draught at select St Austell Brewery pubs.
Slightly sweeter in taste and lower in alcohol than original Cornish Rattler, this new flavour hopes to capitalise on the successful Rattler brand franchise, originally introduced by Healey’s in 2003.
Healey brothers, Sam and Joe commented:
“We like to be different, and Berry Rattler is no exception. It offers a more unusual blend, an entirely new opportunity for draught cyder, a distinctive label and branding which will ensure standout from the crowd.
Alongside the bottles, we are very excited to be trialling Berry Rattler on draught in selected St Austell Brewery pubs. The first ever draught Berry cyder, we are predicting a great response with roll out plans across the South West following the initial trial period.”
The range of different fruit ciders on the market has increased rapidly over the last few years, many of which have proved more popular than the original apple varieties.
Berry Rattler will join the other variants in the Rattler range, which already includes Cornish Rattler and Pear Rattler.
Cyder as opposed to Cider is made from a single pressing of vintage fruit, rather like “extra virgin” olive oil.
Cyder matures in cask and bottle, which the connoisseur can appreciate. “Industrial” cider and Perry cannot be laid down to mature.
The collection is inspired by Cornwall’s lifestyle, beaches and laid-back approach with a strong focus on the ‘just chill’ strap line. The Healey brothers added:
“Rattler has a strong brand identity with a cult following in Cornwall and beyond. Its unusual and individual design attracts consumers who buy into the Cornish lifestyle and provenance of the region, and who are seeking a premium cyder.
Rattler is now growing beyond the South West with plans to introduce the brand to consumers across the south.”
Since original Cornish Ratter Cyder was bottled in 2007, it has become Cornwall’s fastest growing product by volume of sales, growing seventy percent year on year, and with bottle sales at 1.5 million last year.
Bottle sales represent only one third of the business; the remainder is sold on draught through eight hundred pubs across the UK.
Pear Rattler Cyder was introduced in 2008 and in just one year sales grew to five hundred thousand bottles.
In 2008 Cornish Rattler won “Best-bottled Cider” at the Bath Festival. Then in 2009 Pear Rattler won Silver at the Taste of the West Awards and its Healey’s Reserve won not only “Best Presented Packaged Cider” at the International Cider and Perry competition but also “Best new product” in the food and drink category at the Royal Cornwall show.
