GRESSINGHAM FOODS ANNOUNCES CHRISTMAS GOOSE PLANS

August 23rd, 2010

Speciality poultry company Gressingham Foods is getting ready for a busy Christmas trading period with its range of rich, succulent geese.

Marketed under the Suffolk-based company’s own Gressingham Foods brand, the Gressingham Goose will be available for customer pre-order from Sainsbury’s 11 October.

The Goose will be in-store for the less organized on the 20 December.

It will also be stocked by a number of independent retailers and butchers.

Ample enough to feed the whole family and a festive centerpiece to this year’s Christmas dinner, Gressingham geese are also dry-plucked – a preparation method that gives the bird an attractive appearance when roasted and prevents water loss during cooking, thereby reducing shrinkage.

William Buchanan, Gressingham Foods commercial managing director said:

“We’re delighted to be selling our own-brand geese to the retail market, Gressingham Foods is synonymous with quality poultry and speciality meats and we’re confident that our delicious Gressingham Goose will prove a huge hit with consumers.”

Bred to the same high standards as the speciality poultry producer’s Gressingham Duck in free-range flocks on selected farms throughout Norfolk and Suffolk, a whole Gressingham Goose or goose crown makes for a large Christmas dinner.

A family business founded in 1971, Gressingham Foods is the only company in the world licensed to produce Gressingham Duck, a unique cross-breed of wild Mallard and Pekin renowned for its superior taste and higher percentage of breast meat.
