DIVINE CHOCOLATE ADDS NEW FLAVOUR TO ITS RANGE

August 5th, 2010

Farmer-owned chocolate company Divine Chocolate is has announce another new addition to its one hundred gram bar range.

The latest flavour combination from Divine combines dark chocolate with orange and ginger.

The Dark Chocolate with Ginger & Orange bar is made with Divine’s seventy per cent chocolate, using Ghanaian cocoa beans grown by members of the Kuapa Kokoo co-operative which owns almost half the company.

The Dark Chocolate with Ginger & Orange hopes to deliver consumers with a taste of rich and smooth dark chocolate which gives hints of zesty orange contrasting with spicy notes of ginger oil.

As with the full Divine range, the flavours of orange and ginger are entirely natural.

Divine’s new flavour is available exclusively at Sainsbury’s supermarkets nationwide (and Sainsbury’s online) from now with an of RRP £1.69.

Charlotte Borger of Divine Chocolate says:”We love creating new flavour combinations with Divine Chocolate and we think this new bar is exceptional.

We’ve been listening to our customers who have been asking for dark chocolate with orange and dark chocolate with ginger – so we have combined the two.

We’ve given a different twist to the citrus-spice flavour mix and we think it will be a big hit with chocolate lovers”.

Divine’s Dark Chocolate with Ginger & Orange is the twelfth flavour to make up the one hundred gram bar range and joins the recently launched eighty five per cent Dark Chocolate, a deep dark chocolate.

The smallholder farmers in Ghana who grow the cocoa for Divine take care in growing, harvesting, fermenting and drying the beans in order to bring out the purest cocoa flavour.

As with all Divine products, the new Dark Chocolate with Ginger & Orange is free from artificial flavourings, colourings and preservatives. It is suitable for vegetarians, and carries the Fairtrade and Kosher marks.

In celebration of Divine’s Ghanaian ownership, it is packaged with distinctive traditional West African motifs called Adinkra symbols, each of which carry their own meaning.

Choosing a Divine product hopes to let consumers know they are playing their part in a more equitable trading partnership.

Divine is the only Fairtrade chocolate company which is forty five per cent owned by the farmers in Ghana – 45,000 members in total.

While Fairtrade ensures farmers receive a better deal for their cocoa and additional income to invest in their community, company ownership gives farmers a share of Divine’s profits and a stronger voice in the cocoa industry.
