CONSCIOUS FOOD INTRODUCES TRADITIONAL INDIAN SNACK TO HEALTH MARKET

August 2nd, 2010

Conscious Food, the Indian organic company selling artisan Indian snacks made to traditional recipes, has introduced a light way to freshen up after a heavy meal.

The new Digestive Mix is a swirl of herbs, seeds and spices which are made by hand and which will help to sooth the system and help to digest rich food a little more easily.

The mix is an ancient concoction of fennel, flax, jaggery, peppermint, hari patti (an Indian bitter leaf), and liquorice.

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts though, as the mix is carefully designed to freshen breath and activate digestive enzymes.

As well as health benefits, the product is one hundred per cent organic and ethically traded.

The aromatic Ajwain seeds in the mix contain thymol, a natural antiseptic.  It’s valued in ayurvedic cooking for its medicinal properties as it is an efficient digestive aid and is often used to treat colic.

Dhania Dal, the core of the coriander, is a ‘super seed’ which is calcium rich and which will freshen the mouth.  And liquorice will fight acidity and cool everything down inside.

The Digestive Mix is part of a range called Power Snacks – a range of light, wholesome snacks containing no wheat or dairy and which are hand-made using traditional Indian recipes.

They are baked not fried and contain no nasties and are also suitable for vegans.

The Digestive Mix is gluten, wheat, dairy and yeast free with no additives or preservatives, just pure, natural ingredients handmade with sources from small organic farms and cooperatives in India.

The new product is available from Selfridges, Planet Organic and other leading healthstores as well as online atpriced at £5.95 for a one hundred gram jar.
