BEL UK SCOOPS FOUR INTERNATIONAL CHEESE AWARDS

August 12th, 2010

Bel UK, a subsidiary of the Bel Group, the world’s leading producer of branded cheese portions, achieved awards across four categories at the International Cheese Awards in Nantwich.

Boursin Garlic & Herb was judged number one in the Soft and Cream Cheese Category, winning a Gold award, while Leerdammer Lightlife Slices won Silver in the Convenience Cheese category.

The annual awards are a part of the Nantwich & South Cheshire Show, the largest cheese show in the world.

Bel UK was also recognised in the food-service sector with Port Sault Affine awarded Gold in the Smoked Cheese category and Kiri Portions winning a Bronze award in the Soft and Cream Cheese category.

Bel UK Ltd was started in France in 1865 – today it has a presence in over one hundred and twenty countries, twenty seven production sites and an annual turnover in excess of £1 billion.

Bel UK’s Marketing Director, Ian Greengrass commented:

“We’re delighted to have won awards for Boursin, Leerdammer, Port Salut and Kiri at the International Cheese Awards – the world’s largest cheese show.

They reflect the quality, continuing success and popularity of our brands and why they are winning products for both our customers and shoppers.”

With so many cheese variations now available to consumers on the market in the UK, the widely recognized cheese awards can make a big difference to the sales of those that pick up awards.

The Bel Group produces many of the UK’s cheese brands, including Mini Babybel®, The Laughing Cow®, Cheez Dippers®, Leerdammer®, Port Salut® and Boursin®.
