HEINZ ADDS NEW VARIETIES TO ITS INFANT FOOD AND DRINK RANGES

July 7th, 2010

Heinz has introduced a new ‘Mixed Berries & Apples’ flavour to its range of ready to drink Heinz Juices.

Furthermore, Heinz is adding spring water to the range following research that mums often water down juices before offering them to their children.

On shelf at the end of the June with a RRP of £1.65 the new Heinz ‘Mixed Berries & Apples with Spring Water’ (750ml) will join current flavours:

  • Heinz Apple with Spring Water
  • Heinz Pear with Spring Water
  • Heinz Apple and Blackcurrant with Spring Water
  • Heinz Apple & Cherry with Spring Water

which all also RRP at £1.65.

Helen Tarragano, Marketing Manager Heinz Infant Feeding said:

“We know that Heinz is a brand that mums know and trust. We currently have four out of the top five value selling baby juices in the UK and are looking to build on this success with the new ‘Mixed Berries & Apples’ variety.”

By speaking to mums we also discovered that they often add water to their juices before offering them to their children over concerns that the juices may be too strong or too sweet. By diluting our range with spring water, mums will no longer havethe hassle of doing it themselves.”

Heinz is the market leader of the Baby Drinks market with a forty six per cent share of the £11.8 million category.

In addition to enhancing its Heinz Juices portfolio, Heinz is also adding a new Sunday Chicken Dinner variety to its range of savoury cereals.

In the Mum’s Own jars for babies aged seven months, the range will now be available in the Savoury Cereal range for babies aged from four to six months.

With an RRP of £2.05 for one hundred and twenty five grams the recipe will be on shelves later this month.

Building upon its range of Heinz Fruity custard pots, Heinz is also launching one hundred per cent fruit and vegetable pots. The one hundred per cent fruit & vegetable pots hope to offer Mums convenient first flavours that they can combine with other foods such as Baby Rice or simply use alone for breakfast, snacks or as a healthy dessert.

Each of the one hundred per cent fruit and vegetable pots contain one of a baby’s five a day, is high in Vitamin C and contains no added sugar.

With an RRP of £1.69 for 4 x 100g  the range includes:

  • Heinz 4-36months : 100% apple with vitamin C
  • Heinz 4-36months : 100% pear with vitamin C
  • Heinz 4-36months : 100% apple & pumpkin with vitamin C
  • Heinz 4-36months : 100% apple & carrot with vitamin C

Helen Tarragano concludes:

“Heinz’s team of baby experts, including development chefs and nutritional specialists ensure these products have the great taste you’d expect from Heinz.

By developing our existing portfolio and investing in new products, we are helping to drive sales for our retail partners by keeping mum in the baby aisle for longer as well as attracting new buyers”.
