MORNFLAKE LAUNCHES NEW CERALS IN PINK PACKAGING TO SUPPORT BREAST CANCER CARE

June 21st, 2010

Mornflake, the oat cereals brand, has introduced two new healthy products in support of Breast Cancer Care.

The products hope to help raise funds for people affected by breast cancer and raise awareness of the disease.

Mornflake has committed a minimum five figure contribution through sales of the bright pink packs of Mornflake Instant Porridge Oats with oatbran and Mornflake Extra Crispy Muesli Swiss Style with apple.

The money raised will be used to ensure Breast Cancer Care can continue to provide excellent free support and information to anyone dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis.

As well as raising much needed funds, with strong shelf and fixture stand out, the new cereals are expected to impact on female breakfast cereal purchase decisions amongst thirty-seventy five year olds.

The move hopes to raise awareness of the charity while also encouraging active involvement through a healthy breakfast choice.

Mornflake joins high street names ASDA, Swarovski, Dorothy Perkins and leading food brands like Gu in supporting Breast Cancer Care.

There are an estimated half a million people in the UK today who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and every year another 46,000 – including around three hundred men – receive the news that they have the disease.

Breast Cancer Care is just a phone call or a mouse click away for anyone affected by breast cancer, providing expert information and professional support to help people every step of the way.

The new products will be on shelf in time for Breast Cancer Care Awareness Month in October 2010.

In addition, from this month, the existing Mornflake Superfast Oats (500g) feature an on pack flash on supermarket shelves with 1p from each 58p pack donated to the charity.

Richard Jones, Marketing Manager, Mornflake Oats said:

“This new premium oat sachet addresses the need for a premium offering in this product category, and will increase consumer choice.

With sachet sales up eleven per cent value growth in last 2 years, oat sachets now outsell ‘Ready Brek’ type instant porridge oats three times over and we’re keen to pass some of the sales returns on this and other products to Breast Cancer Care.”

Mornflake Instant Porridge Oats combines all the goodness of oats with an added twenty per cent oatbran which can help reduce cholesterol.

Like all Mornflake cereals all grain in every pack of cereal is milled by Mornflake at the independent family firm’s site in Cheshire.

The new products join the Mornflake range of oat-based cereals which includes:

  • Mornflake OatsToGo, the only organic oats in sachets
  • Mornflake Organic Oats, two variants of oatbran flakes, the only brand of oatbran in the UK available in a pour or sprinkle tube or in a bag
  • Crispy mueslis
  • Oatbran
  • Chocolatey Squares, an oat based children’s cereal with hazelnut chocolate filling

Made by the UK’s oldest milling experts, Mornflake cereal is made from British oats and milled in a unique way developed by fourteen generations of the same family to create the brands taste and texture.
