MARS RELEASES NEW PACKAGING FOR WORLD CUP

June 3rd, 2010

Mars Bar changes its packaging in time for the world cup in a bid to show support for the England team in South Africa.

For the first time in its 78 year history, the iconic black packaging will be replaced with a new red and white strip inspired by the St Georges Cross and the England kit, which features the famous Three Lions crest.

Fiona Dawson, Managing Director of MARS Chocolate UK, commented:

“Although Marsis an Official Supplier to the England Team we are, more importantly, huge fans. Like every other England fan this year, we want to show our support in every way we can and changing our ‘kit’ is just one way of doing it.

We also hope it will help rally the whole nation and encourage them to show their support too – it can really make a difference to the team’s performance. Whatever happens in South Africa, we support the England football team all the way and this is the best way for us to show this.”

Mars has only changed its packaging significantly once before, re-naming itself Believe to inspire confidence among England fans and the England Team in Germany in 2006. This is the first time in Mars’ history that the core colour has changed away from black.

Mars Bars sporting the new kit is in store now until stocks last.
