CHAMPAGNE G.H. MUMM OFFICIAL CHAMPAGNE PARTNER OF LONDON RESTAURANT FESTIVAL 2010
The London Restaurant Festival – brainchild of restaurant critic Fay Maschler – today announced that for the second successive year Champagne G.H. Mumm will be its official champagne partner.
The event takes place from October 4th to 18th 2010 and the two-week festival celebrates all aspects of dining out in London.
G.H. Mumm will support the festival in a number of different ways, including Festival Menus. Every participating restaurant creates a special Festival Menu; a three-course lunch or dinner showcasing their specialist cuisine.
This year 25 of these menus will be sponsored by Champagne G.H. Mumm, with diners being served G.H. Mumm champagne as with their meals.
The Gourmet Odyssey – one of the most popular events at last year’s festival- will return and see a handful of diners enjoying a starter at one exclusive restaurant, a main course at another, before having dessert at a third.
Each odyssey begins with a champagne reception at the Met Bar where Champagne G.H. Mumm Cordon Rouge will again be served. Getting from one restaurant to the next is an event itself as diners travel on a fleet of liveried Routemaster buses.
G.H. Mumm’s Gourmet Odyssey will take in some of London’s dining hot-spots including Piccadilly, Park Lane and Belgravia. As well as champagne on-board the bus, different styles will be served with each course.
Simon Davis, Co-founder and Director of the London Restaurant Festival comments:
“The Gourmet Odyssey is one of the landmark events to return to the London Restaurant Festival. It combines fun, great food and adventure in equal measures and we are delighted that Champagne G.H. Mumm will be working with us to create another outstanding line-up of Festival events.”
Jo Spencer, Head of Marketing for Champagne at Pernod Ricard UK said that: ”We are delighted that G.H. Mumm will be the official Champagne of The London Restaurant Festival again. G.H. Mumm is the perfect Champagne to accompany food as it enhances and complements a wide range of dishes. The house style focuses on the Pinot Noir grape which provides both fruit and structure – two vital ingredients when it comes to the successful pairing of wine with food.”
Spencer added:
“We’re very excited about supporting the Festival – and working with the many outstanding chefs and sommeliers who make up the fabric of London’s world-leading restaurant scene.
In fact, G.H. Mumm has cultivated close ties with the world of gastronomy since its foundation in 1827, so this is a superb opportunity to showcase the breadth and quality of its award-winning range. G.H. Mumm Champagne will be enjoyed not only as a stylish aperitif, but also paired with some of London’s finest menus at some of the city’s most exciting restaurants.”
One of the events of last year’s London Restaurant Festival is back. For 10 nights of Festival one capsule of the London Eye is
taken over and turned into a 10-seat “pop-up” restaurant. While the other London Eye capsules remain dark, one of London’s most celebrated chefs will cook dinner for parties of up to 10 people.
The festival – in partnership with American Express, invites its visitors to explore some of the UK capital’s finest cooking, from its high-profile Michelin-starred restaurants to coveted neighbourhood bistros.
