CRANTOCK CORNISH BAKERY ADDS NEW SWEET PASTRIES
A Cornish bakery has expanded its range of sweet products with the launch of two new fruit turnovers.
Inspired by traditional recipes and classic ingredients, the new products have been created by bake-off specialists Crantock Bakery as a lighter alternative to complement their range of sweet pasties.
Crantock Bakery’s Becky Hornabrook, who created the range after researching traditional recipes, said: “Our sweet pasties have always been popular with our customers, and we’re keen to build on this success with the launch of our fruit turnovers. As well as being popular with bakeries and pasty shops, we expect these products will appeal to cafés and takeaways as well.”
Two versions of the product are available with more in development. The Apple and Blackberry Turnover features slices of apple and whole blackberries in a creamy custard, wrapped in light flaky pastry and topped with a sprinkling of Demerara sugar.
The Dutch Apple and Sultana Turnover is created with diced Bramley apple, sultanas and a creamy custard laced with cinnamon.
Although they have been inspired by a centuries-old recipe, the fruit turnovers are a brand new product from Crantock, who are well known as one of the leading bake off manufacturers.
Becky Hornabrook describes the development process: “We wanted to create a product that had real visual appeal as well as the fantastic smell that comes with the bake off process, and we think the turnovers look every bit as good as they taste.
“At 130g they are a very versatile product which can be sold as a snack with a coffee or as a dessert at lunchtime. And because they are bake off products you simply cook them when you require them – so a terrific fruit turnover from us will result in a terrific financial turnover for the customer.”
The turnovers are available now for trade and wholesale customers in cases of 30, priced £0.79p per unit/ £21.90 per case.
