CRANBERRY LAUNCHES NEW SNACKPACKS

May 28th, 2010

Cranberry Enterprise – manufacturer of dried and roasted nuts and fruit snack foods – has added to its range of prepacked ‘healthy indulgences’ with the launch of a snackpack size.

Marketed as a between meal snack, luncheon accompaniment or with pre-dinner drinks.

Cranberry Enterprise has selected six of its best selling products and pre-packaged them into 40g & 50g ‘Snackpacks’ with a recommended retail price of 99p.

The range comprises a healthy snack option – mixed berries; 4 savoury lines – honey cashews, spicy smoked almonds, mexican cashews and lightly salted & roasted mixed nuts, and  yogurt cranberries.

The Company describes the mix as ‘healthy indulgences’ – a crossover between healthy snacks and confectionery treats. The products are packed into convenient, strongly branded bags with a clear window, so the consumer can see the quality of the contents.

The Company’s pedigree was created over 15 years ago, with the establishment of a chain of retail self-selection stores. All products are sourced from around the world by the Company’s wholesale division. Nut products are hand roasted and coated in-house by the group’s own roaster, Cranberry Roasting, which uses Middle Eastern air drying roasting methods rather than the more usual frying or vegetable oil processing.

As well as the Snackpack 40g or 50g size, Cranberry products are also available in slightly larger 100g -140g pre-packs called Grab Bags. This size has a price point of £1.99 and the range is somewhat broader with ten different selections.

In terms of promotion, the new Snackpack range has several different point-of-sale display options. Besides clip strips, there is a choice of metal display stands with euro hooks which may be specified as floor-standing or countertop units, as well as cardboard counter top stands and wicker baskets.

Speaking about the Snackpack launch, Director of Sales for Cranberry Enterprise, Trevor Stroud, explains:

“All our experience of the dried fruit and nut snack market has gone into developing this new pre-pack range, including the product selection, pack size and price point. 40 or 50 grams of product is ideal as a snack or with a meal and keeping the price below a pound was psychologically important, too.

The new range offers something different from the standard fare of crisps and salted peanuts and we think that they will catch the imagination of both the trade and their customers. In our experience once tried, the taste and freshness of the product ensures repeat purchase.”
