CADBURY TO OPEN COCOA HOUSES
Despite the Kraft takeover of this iconic British Brand, Cadbury will continue to open chocolate houses along the lines of the pilot outlet which it tested in Bath in 2007.
It is reported that the Cadbury plans have been well under way for several years and Kraft has ratified a 20 year license for a consortium of retailers to expand the idea to the high Street.
The chain is to be called Cadbury Cocoa House
Kraft the US foodmaker, which bought Cadbury for £12 billion earlier this year, has now endorsed a 20-year licence to a group of retail entrepreneurs to set up and manage the high street chain, to be called Cadbury Cocoa House.
Up to 60 cafes could be opened in the UK in the next few years and negotiations have begun with site owner.
Naturally the chain will play on it’s traditional British heritage and will offer mid market afternoon teas as well as having micro manufacture on the sites themselves.
We think this is an obvious development for the brand, doing for cocoa and chocolatiers what the re-invention of the Barista has done for coffee shops such as Starbucks.
