AUNT BESSIE’S BID TO PROTECT YORKSHIRE PUDDINGS

March 29th, 2010

New PictureThe Aunt Bessie company explains, Yorkshire is a county world renowned for its rich heritage – from picturesque villages to awe-inspiring minsters to well-loved authors.

And now another great Yorkshire tradition – the Yorkshire Pudding. This family favourite is hoping to gain protected name status from the European Union.

Traditional frozen food company Aunt Bessie’s who are famous for their delicious, golden and crispy Yorkshire Puddings are in talks about applying for protected status for the Yorkshire staple.

If it is granted, the Yorkshire Pudding will receive the same special status as Parma ham, Stilton cheese and Champagne. This will ensure that every shop-bought Yorkshire Pudding you eat is produced within Yorkshire by local producers and is of the upmost quality.

Clare Field, Marketing Director at Aunt Bessie’s said

“Aunt Bessie’s is the world’s largest brand of frozen baked and ready to bake Yorkshire puddings. We employ over 350 staff and can produce more than 20 million puddings a week from our kitchens in East Yorkshire. We believe the local heritage of Yorkshire Puddings should be protected for future generations.”

This is good news for you, good news for local producers and good news for Yorkshire’s heritage!

To celebrate the heritage of one of Yorkshire’s finest, why not treat the whole family to the below hearty Yorkshire Pudding dish.
