HOTELYMPIA ANNOUNCES INNOVATION AWARD FINALISTS

HOT2010_InnovationAwardsHotelympia has announced the following products as finalists of the inaugural Hotelympia Innovation Awards.  They will be showcased on plasma screens throughout the Innovation Lounges to an audience of over 40,000 – An ideal starting point for any visitor wanting a ‘snap shot’ of what’s hot at Hotelympia!

Design:
• BeeKind™ by Gilchrist & Soames – The BeeKind™ bath and body range paper bottles is a 59% reduction in packaging material, as well as a 92% reduction in waste space compared to plastic bottles.
• Resysta® by GO IN – a new material created to replace endangered tropical hardwoods when producing outdoor furniture – set to revolutionise the ‘outdoor’ sector of the catering and hotel trade.
• Vegware’s Compostable Hot Cup Lids – the launch of the world’s first fully compostable hot cup lid, described as possibly the holy grail of eco-friendly catering disposables.
Equipment:
• Carbon Management Programme ‘Shut it! Fill it! Turn it off! Get it serviced! By CESA – a series of five podcasts developed in conjunction with Oxford Brookes University. A training programme for staff to ensure they use their equipment more efficiently.
• Adande Single Chef Base by Adande Refrigeration – bringing unmatched refrigeration, Adande technology is based on an insulated drawer that keeps cold air in when opened. As a result, temperature stability in hot busy kitchens is unmatched and energy consumption much lower than with conventional refrigeration equipment.

• GB 360 by Mechline Developments – a high‐speed, high‐volume, rapid food waste decomposition system, using a special formulation of 100% natural micro‐organisms to convert food waste into grey water that is safe for drains and sewage systems.

Food & Drink:

• Recipe Mixes by McCormick – an innovative range of six mixes, ideal for use across all foodservice sectors, covering a wide variety of world cuisines. Each is made from a selection of herbs and spices, packed in portion controlled sachets, enabling caterers to easily create deliciously flavoursome dishes which are healthy, with no compromise on taste, time effectively.
• Bouillon by Infusion by Ariake Japan – a 100% natural clarified Bouillon/Broth in an easy to use by infusion bag for a base of sauce, cooking and soup.
Technology:
• Connect Smart Hospitality Automation Solution by Call-Systems Technology – A system which connects every part of the restaurant together – reception, bar, waiters, chefs, management – automating all critical activities to achieve the highest efficiency, quality and customer service.
• E-Table by Compurants Ltd – the world’s first interactive ordering system that uses overhead projection technology. Alongside ordering from the illustrated menu, customers can control the ambience of their table; explore a range of special features, including various games, and Chef Cam.

• Service Invisible by Catering for a Sustainable Future Group (CSFG) – A kitchen combination monitoring system that shows Caterers the amount of gas, electricity and water being used, the temperatures in fridges and freezers, and how much CO2 is in the atmosphere.
• Mediahub HB by Teleadapt Ltd – an all-in-one, in-room entertainment panel that provides all relevant audio and video connection ports including Stereo Bluetooth® wireless technology.

These final 13 products will battle it out in the next stage of judging, where category winners will be announced at the start of the show, with an overall winner and ‘People’s Choice’ winners announced at the end of the show.
