FREEFROM FOOD PRODUCT INTRODUCTIONS RISING

86 freefrom cakes, 105 freefrom sweet biscuits, 62 freefrom savoury biscuits… Not to mention 57 special freefrom Christmas products, 48 freefrom puddings and 40 freefrom scones, flapjacks, brownies, teacakes and doughnuts…

And that is not counting the freefrom pastas, ready meals, plant and animals milks, chocolates, breads, ice creams and the gluten-free beers!

All of which have been tasted, tested and judged over the last six months by the Foods Matter FreeFrom Food Awards tasting panels that include food allergy/intolerance sufferers, food professionals and ‘normal’ members of the public to benchmark the freefrom products against ‘normal’ foods.

‘Not only have the number of freefrom foods increased enormously,’ says Michelle Berriedale-Johnson, the brains behind the FreeFrom Food Awards and editor of the major food allergy and intolerance website foodsmatter.com,’ but the quality of manufactured freefrom food has improved dramatically, many products now being not only indistinguishable from their non-freefrom equivalents, but actually better!’

A shortlist, drawn from the 1,000 odd products submitted for the awards will be announced on March 8th. The awards will be presented by Antony Worrall Thompson on April 21st at the Canal Museum behind King’s Cross.
