DISCOVER THE DIVINE TASTE OF SELENE AT ONLY £12,000 A BOTTLE

January 7th, 2010

The Dalmore SeleneWe are told that whisky enthusiasts and collectors can now experience the divine quality of the latest Dalmore expression inspired by the Titan goddess of the moon, as the 58 year old Selene is released at £12,000 a bottle

Both filled on 7 June 1951, casks 1781 and 1782 were left underground for over half a century before the master distiller combined their individual aromas, flavours and finishes to create the precious liquid.

Just 30 decanters of this majestic Single Highland Malt are in existence worldwide, retailing exclusively in Harrods, Selfridges, The Whisky Exchange and The Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre at £12,000.

Made from the finest Portuguese mouth blown crystal, each decanter is handcrafted with an individually numbered neck collar, stunning iconic stag and beautiful solar eclipse, reflecting the influence of nature on the vintage expression. Presented in a solid steel box, inlaid with leather, each bottle is personally signed by master distiller Richard Paterson.

Aromas of lime, mandarin and grapefruit, hints of bergamot laced with thick plumy treacle, aged Matusalem sherry, ginger and spice all combine to captivate the senses.

By holding the spirit long in the mouth the palate will be rewarded with tastes of tangy, thick cut marmalade, roasted coffee beans, spiced ground cinnamon and chocolate cake. These notes are complimented by marinated plums, apricots and mangos soaked in Port wine and dark muscovado sugar.

The rewarding finish offers tastes of mocha, ground almonds, liquorice and a dash of morello cherries.

Richard Paterson, master distiller at Whyte and Mackay said:

“This exclusive expression is quite simply a fantastic whisky and its quality reflects the care, love and attention of the craftsmen behind its production. “Luxury is about enjoying something rare and sublime – we believe this 58 year old vintage will excite our discerning customers and encourage investment. Having already been inundated with enquiries about Selene’s release, it is sure to be snapped up by collectors across the globe.”
