DIVINE CHOCOLATES LAUNCHES CHRISTMAS LINES
Divine, the only Fairtrade chocolate co-owned by farmers, is introducing some fabulous new additions to its Christmas range. New this year are some gorgeously festive treats available at Waitrose: Dark and Milk Chocolate Foiled Balls and a Gift Box of dark, milk and white chocolate bars.
And back by huge consumer demand are the milk and dark chocolate advent calendars. Read on for more details and make Divine the one-stop-shop for giving, sharing, celebrating and indulging this festive season – there is something to appeal to all ages and tastes.
The smallholder farmers who grow the cocoa for Divine take particular care in growing, harvesting, fermenting, and drying the beans. The best cocoa beans and only real cocoa butter from the cocoa crop is used and entirely natural ingredients (and also Fairtrade where available) are used to flavour the chocolate, giving a truly heavenly chocolate experience.
The smooth Milk Chocolate Foiled Balls come in a vibrant green cathedral pack decorated with falling snowflakes and image of mother & child around a Christmas tree. Made with Fairtrade sugar from Malawi and Fairtrade vanilla (real vanilla not vanilla flavouring) from India. As with all Divine products, the chocolates are free from artificial flavourings, colourings and preservatives. 100g pack available from Waitrose at £3.25; suitable for vegetarians.
The creamy rich Dark Chocolate Foiled Balls come in a midnight blue cathedral pack decorated with an image of the three wise men. Made with Divine’s critically acclaimed (see Editors’ Notes) 70% dark chocolate. Dairy free (but made in a factory where dairy products are made), suitable for vegetarians and vegans. 100g pack available from Waitrose at £3.25.
Also brand new for Christmas 2009 is a lovely little Gift Box containing a snack-sized (45g) bar of milk, dark and white chocolate. Delightfully packaged with a Christmassy scene, the bars themselves are wrapped in the Divine livery – decorated with traditional West African motifs called Adinkra symbols, each of which carry their own meaning. Available from Waitrose at £2.99.
Bestselling advent calendars are back again this year:
The Milk Chocolate Advent Calendar depicts an enchanting festive scene decorated with cocoa farmers from Ghana, sugar farmers from Malawi, vanilla farmers from India and Uganda, and dairy farmers in Europe, all of whom contribute to making a Divine bar of chocolate. A charming nativity scene is shown below this and on the reverse of the calendar is told the story of how Kuapa Kokoo farmers in Ghana lovingly harvest and prepare the cocoa that goes into making the chocolate found in the calendar itself.
The Dark Chocolate Advent Calendar is the very first dark chocolate Fairtrade advent calendar on the market and features a richly-coloured scene inspired by the bustling market in Kumasi and the nativity story. The Christmas tree at the heart of the market scene is decorated with golden Adinkra symbols whose meanings are explained on the reverse of the calendar. Behind each window is a heart shaped piece of Divine chocolate. RRP £3.75 from the Divine Chocolate Shop www.divinechocolateshop.com and www.ethicalsuperstore.com/divine.
