DENMARK’S FINEST MUSSELS TO BE LAUNCHED IN THE UK

December 11th, 2009

Malmo blueAs a celebration to the shellfish season, Malmo Nordic Dining is launching smoked mussels. Sourced from the famous Danish Limfjord, they will be available nation-wide from December.

Scandinavian top chefs such as Claus Mayer of Noma, rave about crustaceans from the Limfjord, beautifully situated in North East Denmark. The reason is simple: All Limfjord mussels are wild and allowed a slow growth in the vast amount of cold water, which also has a unique algae composition. These factors combined result in an outstanding taste and firmness.

Malmo’s mussels are ethically sourced, lightly smoked and preserved in rapeseed oil, giving them an added health dimension. Being the vegetarian oil with the lowest level of saturated fats, rapeseed oil contains astonishingly ten times the amount of Omega 3 compared to olive oil. It is also rich in antioxidants and vitamins, and can help to lower the bad cholesterol.

The mussels are presented in glass jars of 190 grams and will be found in Harvey Nichols Food Halls nation-wide, thirty of greater London’s best delicatessen, and online through Foodfullstop.co.uk. For full retailer list, see www.malmonordicdining.com.

Malmo Nordic Dining is a UK based company with the conviction that the best way to establish the Nordic kitchen as a future classic, is to share the fantastic produce, recipes and food values that unite the five Nordic countries. Launched in May 2009, the founders Victor and Erika are determined to show how great modern Nordic food is, and are carefully sourcing natural and artisan foods that are pure, simple and healthy.

Malmo will also be present at the following Christmas markets: Belgravia (6 December), Cabbages and Frocks Hampstead Heath (13 December) and every Saturday at Duke of York Square. Here homemade Nordic Christmas delicacies will be offered along the standard range, such as pepparkaka (“Pepper biscuit”) and classic Christmas rye breads.
