UK VEGETARIAN AWARDS 2009

November 9th, 2009

When the Vegetarian Society was founded in 1847, there was a strong link between living without meat and abstaining from alcohol. Interestingly, when asked to choose their favourite Vegsoc Approved Drink, vegetarians didn’t all head straight for the bottle, as the nominations show, but on this occasion the winner was Grolsch.

Vanessa Brown, Head of Corporate Relations for the Vegetarian Society said, “Congratulations to Grolsch, not only for making a product which is completely veggie but also for making one that’s available in a wide range of venues and retailers.”

The other nominees shortlisted in this category were: Sweetbird Mango & Orange Smoothie, Marble Brewery range of beers, McDonald’s Milkshakes, George Bateman and Son range of Beers.

The Vegetarian Society Awards 2009 winners were announced last night at the Magic Circle Headquarters in London. The evening was hosted by Wendy Turner Webster, broadcaster and author, and patron of the Vegetarian Society.

This is the Vegetarian Society Awards’ ninth year and guests came from across the UK to celebrate the very best in vegetarian food, catering, and lifestyle, highlighting to the nation those companies and services which make life better for vegetarians in the UK.
