Well the thing about innovation is there’s always something new!  So here’s a novel way of getting attention … create a cocktail which is served in a jam jar.

The Louisiana Jam is the UK’s first ever cocktail which is served in a jam jar! The first cocktail ever created was from New Orleans which is also where Southern Comfort was invented, and this is how they used to drink cocktails hundreds of years ago.

The cocktail itself contains Southern Comfort, Apricot jam, citrus juices and mint. Southern Comfort wanted to bring a unique drinking experience to Brits this Christmas and created this drink with Giles Looker who also created the Mahiki Treasure Chest!

The drink already has celebrity fans including Sophie Ellis Bextor, FrankMusik and Remi Nicole.

Louisiana Jam

35ml Southern Comfort
20ml lemon juice
20ml apple juice
2 barspoons of apricot jam
8 mint leaves15ml sugar syrup

1. Place mint leaves into the jam jar and gently muddle
2. Place remaining ingredients into the jam jar
3. Half fill with crushed ice, put the jam jar lid on and  shake vigorously
4. Remove the lid and top up with crushed ice
5. Finish with garnish
