SAT BAINS RESTAURANT IN NOTTINGHAM WINS AWARDS
Restaurant Sat Bains with Rooms, Nottingham’s only Michelin starred restaurant, has been recognised as the 4th best restaurant in the UK at Restaurant Magazines National Restaurant Awards, celebrating the very best restaurants in the UK.
In a ceremony held last night at the exclusive Hurlingham Club in South West London, Chef Patron Sat Bains was listed as the 4th best restaurant in the UK, (a climb of 36 places from last year). In addition he was voted the “Chef’s Chef of the Year” by his peer group, comprising the most important chefs in the country.
Commenting on the awards, Sat Bains was characteristically full of praise for his team and said, “Any restaurant is only as good as the people that make it all happen. We have a superb team in Nottingham and this latest accolade proves the effort and commitment we all put in. On a personal level I am extremely proud to have received this award especially to have such recognition from my fellow chefs”
This award comes days after the restaurant was recognised by the AA Guide and was awarded the prestigious 5 AA Rosettes, the highest accolade from the AA and the only restaurant to achieve the award this year. This positions the restaurant as one that “stands comparison with the best in the world”.
A winner of the prestigious Roux scholarship in 1999, Sat Bains opened Restaurant Sat Bains with Rooms with his wife Amanda in 2002. The following year they won the county’s only Michelin star. Since then, they have been awarded the BMW Square Meal – Best UK Restaurant of the Year 2007 and in 2008, Observer Food Monthly voted it Best Restaurant of the Year and number 1 in the 50 Sexiest Places to be Fed.
Sat’s cuisine is based on a philosophy of Taste Texture and Temperature and offers diners a choice of 5, 7 or 10 course tasting menus.
