NEW RANGE OF VERY GOOD STEWS LAUNCHED

With any of the new Stewed! products, anyone can present a delicious home-cooked tasting meal without hours of simmering.

We tried these products at the “Lunch” show and they were all very very good.

The founder of stewed! Alan Rosenthal, wanted to accomplish a small scale home made taste to a range of nutritious stew-like products.  The recipes had to be from store cupboard ingredients.  The finished result was to be somewhere between a hearty soup and a ready-meal.

Two years later, via the farmers’ markets, food fairs and some phenomenal feedback,  his stews are now available on Ocado.com, in St Pancras station’s Sourced Market and in 16 London Waitrose stores from early Autumn. You can already get stewed! in Harvey Nichols’  food hall and selected Budgens.

The variants are
• Persian chicken stew (from £5.49) – filled with Eastern promise … and British chicken (45%,
to be precise), perfectly partnered with sour cherries and ground walnuts and topped
with fragrant spices and a drizzle of pomegranate molasses.
• Chickpea, roast sweet potato and feta stew (from £4.49) – chickpeas cooked with hearty
veggies, smoked paprika and saffron, laced with crumbly feta cheese and roast sweet
potatoes. (V)
• Chorizo, chickpea and pork stew (from £4.99) – slow-cooked chunks of tender British
pork, lovingly combined with smoky, Spanish chorizo, chickpeas, some fresh, hearty
veggies and a pinch of saffron.
• Moroccan chicken stew (from £4.99) – tasty chicken chunks (46%: stewed! don’t
skimp), cooked with juicy green olives, tangy preserved lemons and a sprinkling of exotic
spices.
• The stewed! range is available in 500g microwaveable pots, providing a hearty meal for two when accompanied by bread, cous cous, potatoes or rice. Plans to develop an individual, lunchbox size range are afoot.
