MORE EVENTS ANNOUNCED FOR LONDON FOOD FESTIVAL
Taking place for one week from the 8th – 13th October, the event is hoping to become the Edinburgh Festival of the food world.
The London Restaurant Festival will be focused around several one-off events:
• ‘The Gourmet Odyssey’. Guests will eat three different courses at three different London restaurants, transported between venues on an iconic Routemaster bus sponsored by Champagne G.H. Mumm. As guests sip their champagne they will be taken on a trip to some of London’s leading restaurants, including Nobu, Maze, Hakkasan, Quo Vadis, and Hibiscus.
• ‘The Big Roast’. London’s biggest ever collective Sunday Roast, where 800 people will sit down on long tables in Leadenhall Market to enjoy a Sunday roast cooked by some of the capital’s top chefs.
• ‘Festival Menus’. Many of the 300+ restaurants that have signed up will be offering a specially-created fixed-price ‘Festival Menu’. To find more information and to book, visit www.londonrestaurantfestival.com and www.toptable.co.uk.
Some of the other high-profile festival events set to whet the appetites of foodies everywhere are The London Restaurant Festival Lecture with Simon Schama, and the celluloid celebration of food and film entitled Eat Film. Tickets to some events are
already on sale, with others being released during September.
London Restaurant Festival creator Fay Maschler: “Like all good ideas, you think, why hasn’t this been done before? London is an exceptional city and restaurants play a huge part in its warp and weft. That needs to be celebrated.”
Visit London Interim CEO Sally Chatterjee: “The London Restaurant Festival has been created to drive as many people as possible back into hundreds of participating restaurants. Our aim is to see a 20% increase in sales during the week of the event,
and with fabulous food available at fabulous prices, we believe this is possible.”
