EBLEX RE-LAUNCHES CONSUMER INFORMATION SERVICE

October 3rd, 2009

Eblex (The English Beef & Lamb Executive) has re-launched its consumer information service … and has engaged award winning chef Angela Hartnett to help devise the recipes which are available both on line and as a boklet.

Alfresco BeefThis is a really good site, with excellent contemporary but unfussy recipes.  At The FDIN, we give this top marks ;-)  If you are working in ready meals, or with red meats, a trip to the site is inspirational.  Click here for more information. As Quality Standard ambassador for beef Angela Hartnett says: “Everyone loves a juicy steak dinner, but it can be an expensive choice for a dinner party if you’re feeding a lot of people. Choosing less expensive cuts of meat like rump and serving it sliced and sautéed insteadallows you to enjoy the same great flavour but at a lower cost – which is important when we know how expensive the festive season can become! So enjoy a family Christmas cooking tasty food at home this year, but without breaking the bank.”

For a party nibble with a difference, try Lamb Blinis with Marinated Peppers and Herb Relish. Made with mouthwatering pieces of lean lamb rump or leg steaks, these delicious blinis are topped with peppers and a tasty herb relish for a sure fire way to wow your guests!

Eblex Butterflied Leg Of LambTo help relieve any last minute panics over the festive season, don’t forget you can also sign up to the Quality Standard Recipe Club for exclusive recipes, step-by-step carving guides, cooking advice and easy to use shopping lists that can be sent to your mobile phone. Click here for more information. Simply beef and lamb winter is available for free at Quality Standard butcher shops. · EBLEX is the organisation for beef and lamb levy payers in England, and is a division of the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board

· All beef and lamb carrying the Quality Standard label is chosen according to a strict selection process. This involves excluding older animals from the supply chain, as well as those previously used for breeding purposes, and stipulating the time meat must be hung to mature

· The Quality Standard label can be found on pack in supermarkets and visible in independent butchers
