PLUSH LAUNCHES FAIRTRADE CHOCOLATES FOR CHRISTMAS

September 14th, 2009

A new Christmas collection from Plush Fairtrade Chocolates, with the keepsake boxes handcrafted by artisans in India, high quality ingredients from around the world and exotic flavours such as Soho lychee.

Fortunately for the farmers, artisans and other workers involved in the making of Plush’s 100% Fairtrade chocolates around the world, it’s not Edina and Patsy that are in charge, but Sarah Hobbs and Jenny Silverthorne-Wright – two women dedicated to making sure that the chocolates from Plush are not only fabulous, but fair too.

The new range of premium chocolates includes the Classic Belgian Collection; a selection of hand finished chocs offering all the favourites including coffee, hazelnut praline and caramel. Alternatively, for chocolate lovers after something different, Plush’s Handmade English Truffles, with varieties such as the Champagne truffle – made with real Marc de Champagne, are also available.

The chocolates are packaged in unique hand crafted keepsake boxes, baubles or Christmas novelties, as well as in luxury gift boxes.
Sarah and Jenny’s ethical commitment doesn’t stop at the payment of fair wages to the farmers and workers in countries like Paraguay and the Ivory Coast that help produce Plush chocolates.

They take the principle of Fairtrade a step further by re-investing 10% of the company’s profit in Fair Trade producer groups. In addition, Plush packaging is re-usable, recyclable or biodegradable, and the gift-wrap and tags are printed on FSC accredited paper and board-using vegetable based oils.

Keeping Plush chocolates affordable is also important for Plush’s two founders. Sarah Hobbs said ‘we always wanted to create a range of premium chocolate that tasted fabulous, was ethically sourced and was affordable. We’re really pleased with the new Christmas range as it not only delivers on taste and price, but the packaging looks amazing too!’

Plush fairtrade chocolates are available from www.plushchocolates.co.uk, Lakeland, Oxfam, Ethical Superstore, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols and other selected retailers.
