MOLSON COORS INNOVATES TO REDUCE PACKAGING
Global beer brand Molson Coors has announced plans to join UK packaging initiative to reduce the impact of its packaging on the environment.
he second largest brewer in the UK has announced that it will be signing up to Wrap (Waste Resources Action Programme) Courtauld Commitment.
This is the government funded body which encourages reduction of packaging amongst retailers and manufacturers and food waste all along the value chain.
Mark Hunter, Molson Coors’ UK, commented that the move makes both practical and commercial sense.
He added: “Working with Wrap, we have seen how we can minimise waste the whole way through our supply chain – from when the British barley arrives at our maltings right up to the moment when the beer is poured into the glass.”
The Courtauld Commitment encourages new packaging and technological innovations to reduce waste throughout the supply chain.
Wrap’s Nicola Jenkin, said “Molson Coors UK has previously worked with it to create lighter-weight beer bottles, saving high volumes of glass materials each year”.
